Re: Arch Linux Logo Contest: Discussion of logo concepts

Any choice of new logo was bound to upset some people... For what it's worth, I love the new logo and have been using thayer's archer gdm theme and wallpaper for some time now.

Re: Arch Linux Logo Contest: Discussion of logo concepts

well i'm not crazy about it ... don't get me wrong, its 'nice' looking and all, I just don't feel it as representative of arch, linux or a linux distribution.

It looks like you'll get hurt touching it.

Re: Arch Linux Logo Contest: Discussion of logo concepts

I like it. Not as much as some of the other ones, and I'm kind of unsure about the "cracks" in it, since they have scaling issues; but it looks pretty cool.

Although the "Enlightenment" modification kind of, uh, makes me think of a condom. Call me a perv, but I'm not sure it's wise to use the negative space like that.

By reading some other threads I am pretty sure that Cerise is a female, might be better to use she.
I agree, she have shown a lot of enthusiasm and talent.

No.  That's why we voted in private.

Re: Arch Linux Logo Contest: Discussion of logo concepts

I think it would be interesting to know all who participated in the competition, but what work at all votes received. For example:
==== Entry # 1 ==== -15 votes
==== Entry # 2 ==== -10 votes
etc.
Do not you?

How woul the one with least votes feel with getting it exposed? One would feel pretty bad, wouldn't one?

What purpose should it serve?  I can't see any useful outcome of this. Only bad.

Re: Arch Linux Logo Contest: Discussion of logo concepts

Just stopping by to say: Grats, Thayer!  \(^o^)/

And, of course, thanks for devs for allowing us all to have a lot of fun during this contest. smile

As I said before, you'll get used to the new logo, whether you like it or not. I personally think it will now be all up to the way this new logo is applied, rather than how it looks (or doesn't). So, concentrate on forming a comprehensive branding strategy rather than discussing what might have happened.

I absolutely love all of your wallpapers!

if you can, send me all smile

nagyferenc3_at_gmail_dot_com

If the triple-arch design is chosen for the new logo, I'll upload all of the mockups that you see as real wallpapers.  If it's not chosen, I'll send you the wallpapers -- but I won't upload them all because I wouldn't want an unofficial logo vying for mindshare from the new chosen logo.

ok?  smile

Then, can you redo those fantastic wallpapers with the new logo when you have some time and upload them somewhere? wink It will be sad that these designs were lost.

And not only those three if possible, my choice is for

I wanted the same for an arch version of the "apt-get install anarchism" shirt, so i clicked randomly in inkscape and this emerged:
archlinux-anarchism-thumbnail.png

You can also have the logo as SVG.
