I am using msmtp +mutt for email.
I recently signed up for a freemail account in spymac.com and I need to use
msmtp to use its smtp server.
however, it is in msmtprc file, I set authentication to 'plain' and 'login'
but got messages saying not supported.
I then configured sypleed to send mail and it has 'auto' option for smtp
authentication.
Then what does this 'auto' stand for? how do I set it correcpondingly in
msmtprc?
Any users of msmtp can help? or can you recommend a better MTA than msmtp?
When false is taken for true, true becomes false;
If non-being turns into being, being becomes non-being.
Pages full of fantastic talk
Penned with bitter tears;
All men call the author mad,
None his message hears.

I don't use msmtp, but I can recommend you ssmtp (which I use with mutt): extremely easy to configure (just edit /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf)

I have a page on mutt (using either nbsmtp or ssmtp which I prefer)
at http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/mutt.html
I also have a QND (Quick And Dirty) guide to it at
www.qnd-guides.org/qnd-ssmtp.html
It's the one I use with mutt I agree, quite easy to set up, and quite good, in my opinion.
