Cant get rt61 to work

So i installed archlinux core version. then make, gcc,kernel headers and compiled rt61 serialmonkey drivers.
Now when i try to modprobe rt61 it loads normally (no message shows up) but when i try to type iwconfig it show that there is no such command. ifconfig shows no wireless extenion. what i've done wrong?

iwconfig is part of wireless_tools. do you have it installed?
as a sidenote: as of kernel 2.6.24 rt61 is part of the kernel. So there is no need to compile it yourself.
