Not a problem smile
I hope that answered your question in full, else just ask.

Partially, in fact :
After a few tests, I understand how to read the contents of a file with unzip  ... But not always how to automate the initiation of an archive by clicking on its name in my browser :-(
If that suits me ... It does not like the rest of the family;)

In ubuntu  it is done automatically for all users -mainly my wife-  with the manager Archives "Roler File" for gnome in ubuntu.
(with archlinux I have not installed gnome; fluxbox only)

I prefer archlinux
My wife prefers automation ...
... but I love my wife ...

Re: open a zip file

Squeeze is an xfce4 gui for compression, etc.  I'm not sure how many dependencies it would drag in but being xfce4 it should still be lighter than gnome.
