Partially, in fact :
After a few tests, I understand how to read the contents of a file with unzip ... But not always how to automate the initiation of an archive by clicking on its name in my browser :-(
If that suits me ... It does not like the rest of the family;)
In ubuntu it is done automatically for all users -mainly my wife- with the manager Archives "Roler File" for gnome in ubuntu.
(with archlinux I have not installed gnome; fluxbox only)
I prefer archlinux
My wife prefers automation ...
... but I love my wife ...

Squeeze is an xfce4 gui for compression, etc. I'm not sure how many dependencies it would drag in but being xfce4 it should still be lighter than gnome.
