I am trying to set up Arch as a Router. I can connect from the Router box to the Internet no problem. I can also ping my laptop, and my Laptop can ping the router.
But I can't connect to the Internet with the laptop. If I do wget www.google.ca I get : failed : Temporary failure in name resolution.

You need to specify dns servers (which will resolve the name www.google.ca into an ip address).
Additionally, you need to set up a route for forwarding the connection, and then there are a bunch of optional things (like a dhcp server) http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NAT … connection

vogt,
I was under the impression that if on the laptop I have nameserver = 192.168.0.1 in resolv.conf to point it to the router and /etc/resolv.conf in the router box to point to the ISP DNS that would do it since the router box can connect to the internet...
I need to read more I guess...

^ that would be the case, if you had a dns server such as dnsmasq on the routing computer (dns is distributed: if your dns server cannot resolve a name, it asks other ones).
/etc/sysctl.conf disables ip forwarding by default too (set net.ipv4.ip_forward=1), and then reboot, or find that thing's counterpart is /sys

I installed dnsmasq. My Laptop can connect. Thanks !!!
