peart i found the error, the iso has a crippled mv command included from klibc that doesn't know about * syntax, well intel wireless users need to move the firmware manually from /intel-wireless/ to /lib/firmware
sorry folks i missed that.

No problems tpowa. Will do.

Big thanks for dmraid's swift jump to core!
All I need to do now is run 'dmraid -ay' before installing and the installer finds all disks (manually choosing the right path in OTHER).
Is there a boot-line switch to run dmraid -ay automagically? I know it's not: arch dmraid.
Offline
no there is no swithc like that implemented yet, does it interfere if it is called during boot on non dmraid systems?
Offline
No idea, don't know why it should. It's probably easier to put a line in the wiki.

tpowa, have you tested the ftp image with qemu by any chance?

So the 2008.03 won't be an official release?

I know exactly which will be the official release. In fact, the official release will be the one that shows up on the news section of the arch home page!
flack 2.0.6: menu-driven BASH script to easily tag FLAC files (AUR)
knock-once 1.2: BASH script to easily create/send one-time sequences for knockd (forum/AUR)

But.. What does it mean? Is there a reason for the fact that the iso was not officially announced?

The point is some devs don't like archboot at all, i do this for my installation cds and provide them to users too.
They are now also placed on the ftp mirrors in iso/ subdirectory.
The 2008.03-1 are "final" from my side, they still have the intel-wireless bug, but i don't think this is a major issue, since you can ship around it easily as posted before, i'll add a known-bugs.txt soon to ftp directory.
i'll start working on some improvements soon in archboot and with new kernel release probably i'll start a new rc iso drive with a new final.
thanks for your feedback guys.

Ah, ok, I understand. Thanks for the explanation.
However, I have tested the latest iso on 2 computers, no problems for me

Apart from the minute caveat already mentioned, no problems to report here either :-)
Thanks for the great work!

I'd like to update some root encryption related things on the wiki, but it's needed a bootable CD with kernel >= 2.6.24, so I think I have to wait for an official announced (on the main site) release, because if you use the 2007.08 CD (with an older kernel) that things don't work.

I had that problem before. Do this:
pacman -Sy iwlwifi-3945-ucode

all you need to do is a
cp /intel-firmware/* /lib/firmware/
rmmod iwlwifi
modprobe iwlwifi

I was referring to the aforementioned discussion about the iwlwifi drivers, that's all. I hope I didn't confuse you or anyone else here :-/

Install worked great. I finally have Arch on my tablet pc (dual boot). I have one question I just used the core iso, and I just selected the base packages wasn't netcfg2 in that selection? I had to find a hard line, and download it. Before I started the install I made sure I could connect to the internet. Took me a while to do so since the university I go to has a weird wireless configuration (PEAP + WEP). Overall I thought the installation went well still have plenty of things to configure since I've never used any Linux on a laptop.
Keep up the good work, tpowa.

What exactly is meant "archboot" ?
What is the difference with the "normal" arch ?

We need an official release announced on the main site and downloadable from the main site.
Offline
archboot means the creation utility.
You can download the final isos already since a few days from ftp, only torrents haven't been updated.
I'll not announce them because i don't have the official permission.

maybe the kernel of newer official iso will be 2.6.25

Installed 2008-03 yesterday and experienced one minor inconvenience.
When choosing auto-partitioning of harddrive the size of partition argument can not be 1G instead of 1024 (M). I'm guessing fdisk is used so that argument would fly. Now the installer crashes and kicks me out..
