It will be interesting to see how long before libpng fixes all these errors, as compared to how long it would take for MS libraries.

You've never had windows or something... ? 
It's very easy to do it in win - this is one of the best techniques of sending someone a trojan or virus attached to an image or flash animation. If the file is connected with some application this could potentialy be a problem.

ohh ... never thought about it this way - i always believed that either you need binaries or scripts that are automaticly executed by stupid apps
but i see, that if a script (in the pic) is interpreted by the lib reading the pic, this can be bad - ok, now it's clear - thanx
