Hey I was just curious as to what other pacman-based distros are out there. I've heard of frugalware and faunos...any others?

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

well nothing can really be arch based since the only special thing that arch has is pacman, the rest is just lnux...

Perhaps we can call Arch based those distros which use the official Arch repositories (alongside their custom ones, maybe)?

Umm. BSD initscripts? Not the same as Slackware's?

Initscripts with the unique rc.conf is definitely an element of identity. Many so-called slackware based distros are actually different under many respects from slackware (including package management, but not package format), but do not dare to touch the venerable slackware init system.
However from this point of view archlinux is still visibly inspired by CRUX, where the idea of the unique rc.conf is born, AFAIK.

Why substract init ?
patroclo7: The idea of the unique rc.conf was probably "born" in *BSD rather than some Linux distribution.

Hehe, I caught that too, but couldn't figure out a more correct way of stating what I wanted without adding a space.

What about: GNU+Linux+pacman+BSD_init+ABS=Arch

I'm actually working on an Arch-based installable live CD called AMPArch. The thread is here.
It is Arch+larch+custom utilities+full configuration

What about Archie? http://archie.sunsite.dk/
Maryan Linux is also planning to develop an Arch based E17 distro - en.maryanlinux.com/forum

There once was a project called AEGIS that made a solid attempt at an Archie-based GIS livecd.

Is Archie project dead or abandoned?

It's KDEmod using Shaman on Arch. I believe that it's using pacman.

I think he is referring to the installer... (yes, maybe?)
I don't know the answer, but I would guess no. It does look similar, however.

Is there an Arch based distro for prosessors lower than i686? I'd like to get some of my older computers running arch. I've heard of Low Arch but it seems to be abonded as of now.
Using Ubuntu command line installs on them just makes me miss Arch. >_>
