So I used kdm a while back, switched to gdm as i was using gnome more often. The daemon in etc/rc.conf is gdm but there is about a 1 in 4 chance that kdm will pop up instead at login.
Im missing something very basic here, and im an idiot. Any ideas?
cheers!

Perhaps you're starting kdm from /etc/inittab.

If you are not using kdm, why not uninstall it altogether.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Yep, that was it ...inittab. Knew it would be that simple. Thanks mate!

You should start GDM from inittab instead of the daemon.
One reason would be because the daemon never survived a logout for me.
