yes the link provided is very out of date, I was hoping to hear from some current users using a gui pacman.
Also, I am not using kde4 at this time as it is supposed to be quite buggy.

I am pleasantly surprised to see the progress of these two projects. I think it will be quite a boost for beginners to install and build their Arch system from the ground up, and eventually adding a complete DE to their liking, including these tools, if desired. Since the Arch Way focuses on one's learning the internals, and a user invariably becomes familiar with their system conf upon installation, apps like these will be a welcome addition for many users. And, it's a community effort, as it should be.
TechDragon, these projects appear to be what you're looking for, but they seem to be based on the qt toolkit. They will most likely bring in those dependencies if installed, then. I would keep an eye on them, as they seem to be in the alpha stages of development (but moving pretty quickly).

I'm using Shaman on Xfce4, works great, light and fast
Install (both Shaman and Xfce4) was easy, fast and with no problems...:D

It doesnt bother me, but why are the same(?) people developing two frontends based on qt4?
There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Do you mean Arxin and Shaman?
The 1st is no pacman frontend.. its a GUI for editing mandatory system config files like rc.conf

Ah, thats why its desciption in AUR seemed confusing for a pacman frontend. Thanks for clearing this out

Fauno has a fine Gui for pacman called pactrac. Has a listing giving a synopsis of the packages, permits removal and downloads selectively.
Check it out with a flash USB download of FaunOS. Can't lose.......................

I am pretty happy with CLI pacman.
But I can see that it would help a lot of new comers to be able to easily manage packages a la Synaptic or Adept in Debian based distros.
But then we would lose our "bragging rights" of being snotty Arch users HAHA
