I reinstalled arch last night, and now I can't get my sound working correctly anymore. It worked fine before the reinstall, so I'm hoping its just a config problem somewhere.
I have an Maudio Revolution 5.1, running alsa, using snd-ice1724
When I boot up, Sound only comes from the right speaker. I know of the bug with alsa that has the left channel muted on boot, and a simple toggle of a mixer would fix the problem, but it's not, it seems like my speaker is permanently muted. I cannot toggle mute/unmute because it's not accepted in alsamixer.
I know this isn't a hardware problem because if I move my speakers around, the right channel is muted.

This will sound really dumb, but are your speakers plugged in all the way? A friend of mine lived with only his right channel for 2 months before he realized they weren't plugged in all the way.

Unfortunately they are ![]()

Are all the volume settings unmuted? Some sound cards have separate sliders for L,R, Center, Bass, etc.

As far as I know they are. ice1724 doesn't allow muting of PCM, which is what it uses for the main sound

shameless bump... (and a better title)

run 'alsamixer' and make sure none of the settings have "OM" or "MO" instead of "OO". Use the ">" key to toggle it

They don't.
here's a horrible copy/paste from alsamixer:

I found them problem...
revo 5.1 has a bunch of channels toward the end of alsamixer:
[H/W] [H/W 1] [H/W 2] [H/W 3] [H/W 4] [H/W 5]
A couple of them were set to "IEC958 In L" or "IEC958 In R"
I set them all to "PCM OUT" and sound comes out of both speakers... but it sounds a little bad. Does anyone have these channels in their alsamixer, and if so, could you post what you have for values? I'm guessing its a combination of L and R instead of all PCM OUT
