Need some wireless help.

Hello,

Mostly i don't have any problems with Arch, but now it's different because i installed Arch on a desktop-pc with a wireless pci-card, it's a Belkin 802.11g Wireless Desktop Network Card (F5D7000) smile

I only don't know wich chipset it has (because there are different versions of it)
Who can help me to install this network-card. hmm

Re: Need some wireless help.

Could you please post the lspci output for your wireless network card here? Along with anything you find on it in dmesg (if anything shows up that is smile ). Probably you should be able to determine the chipset from the lspci output.

Greetings!

Re: Need some wireless help.

Normally I have to use this wiki-page; http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/RT61_Wireless
There only is only problem, I've to download a file 'Download the latest Serialmonkey CVS snapshot'
But I don't have a internet-connection on that computer big_smile

Or UTP cables... I know they date back to the stone age, but there's nothing wrong with them good ole UTP cables!

OK, I unpacked the package, but I really don't understand this;
"Compile the driver sources:$make"

Re: Need some wireless help.

OK, the drivers are installed (and it works), I didn't install Make etc... - pff big_smile -
But the problem now is that I can't connect to my network. What is the good command for that
my networkname is belkin54g and let's say that the password is archlinux

I like to turn off the encryption and MAC filter while I'm testing  smile  Also, I use netcfg2.  It works great.  http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Network_Profiles

Netcfg2 is pretty nice, but i find it even easier to add the configuration for my wlan to /etc/rc.conf, background the network service, and use wlassistant whenever I need to connect to a different network than the one I set in /etc/rc.conf.

Read the wiki link, it explains it all. Step by step.
