I tried installing epdfview but there was a hitch.
when I did a
pacman -Ss epdfview
it came back with the output and asked me if I wanted to install it. When I said Yes, It installed the two other libraries associated with it, but gave me a File not found at each and every US mirror.
Why did pacman report it as being there even when the file was not present at any mirror? Can someone explain that?
Was this temporary. I did this late last night....I will try again today once I reach home.

Sounds like an internet connection problem

Not really an internet connection problem if he received the libraries without a problem, and failed epdfview on every mirror.
Is that a typo or is that actually the command you used? -Ss will only search for epdfview.
If that is a typo, did you try doing pacman -Sy epdfview ?

Maybe try a 'pacman -Syyu'.
Failing that go to the Get Arch page and browse the mirrors for the file. If it's there then it must be some sort of pacman problem.

If thsi package has been updated it is likely that the mirrors just haven't updated yet. This would mean that the previous version was removed but the new one isn't uploaded yet.

Yeah...I guess it rectified itself...
Maybe - as it was already suggested - the package was in the midst of being upgraded. I seem to catch them quite often at the wrong times
