libGL.so.1

Sers,

maybe it's more then stupid, ... but i ve deleted following files to get my Quake3 and Wine-Applications running

rm /lib/modules/2.6.25-ARCH/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko
rm /usr/lib/libnvidia-tls.so.1
rm /usr/lib/libcuda.so.1
rm /usr/lib/libXvMCNVIDIA_dynamic.so.1
rm /usr/lib/libGLcore.so.1

I ve reinstalled nvidia driver and now it's shown f.e.

locate libGL.so.1
/opt/lib32/usr/lib/libGL.so.1
/opt/lib32/usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2
/usr/lib/libGL.so.1
/usr/lib/libGL.so.173.14.09

No problem so far... seems to be reinstalled,... but everytime i am trying to start Quake3, this one s coming up

----- Client Initialization Complete -----
----- R_Init -----
...loading libGL.so.1: QGL_Init: Can't load libGL.so.1 from /etc/ld.so.conf or current dir: /usr/local/games/quake3/libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
failed

glxgears are working fine

glxgears
50283 frames in 5.0 seconds = 10056.571 FPS
55025 frames in 5.0 seconds = 11004.828 FPS
53744 frames in 5.0 seconds = 10748.669 FPS
51741 frames in 5.0 seconds = 10348.140 FPS

and Direct Rendering is enabled

glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: Yes

My actual driver No. is 173.14.09 .

It seems as good as possible, or not ?

Re: libGL.so.1

Looks like /etc/ld.so.conf may have something wrong in it.  Could you please post the contents of that file here?

Re: libGL.so.1

Yeah, everything looks fine, and the directory where libGL.so.1 is is listed in /etc/ld.so.conf...I would try reinstalling the nvidia drivers.

Don't use "locate", because we don't know whether you understand that locate uses a *cache*.  Use:

find /opt /usr -name libGL.so.1

Yes it's slower, but it has the huge advantage of showing the up-to-date reality.

Re: libGL.so.1

finally i am glad that was a raw system , so it was no problem to test the 32bit version of AL ... and what to say... everythings fine up to now

Quake3 runs with the nvidia repo-driver ...

maybe it's really a 64bit bug ... s.o. should proof that

so far from me, thnx4 help, stay tuned wink
