I just installed preload from the repos...
What else do I have to do to make it work/ work at max potential?
Apparently in Ubuntu, you can just install it and do nothing. In Arch should I add it to my daemon array? (It says it runs as a daemon)

Yes.
I've had it installed on my machine for a couple of months now. Can't say I really notice a difference, but having said that, I might if I turned it off.

Thanks.
Hopefully I will notice a difference.
Did it make your system boot take noticeably longer?
EDIT: Is it okay to background it in the daemon line? Or will this hinder its abilities? Should it be run before certain other daemons?

First of all, yes, it's a daemon, so of course you need to put it in rc.conf! And I would recommend to put it at the end of the line, because it starts its work after you logged in, so it doesn't have to be in first place. I would also recommend an @ in front of itm so your booting is a bit faster
Would love to use it by myself, but with 512MB RAM it would be complete stupidity
