why netfs in rc.conf?

By default netfs is in rc.conf, started as deamon. The purpose is to automount network filesystems such as smb etc...is there any other reason? Or have I missed anything in removing it from the conf file?

No other reason - if you don't use netwrok filesystems, it is quite safe to remove it.
