I got package compiled by reinstalling libmms. Video files work now but only in 480p mode. In 720p or fullscreen xbmc crashes/only sound, weird.

I guess python 2.4.5 is now included?

Yeah, thanks to malloc64 for that. I think she thinks she is funny. Oh well the joke is on her, I use that Python to build the temporary Python that xbmc builds against now. No source= anymore Simple pleasures

Zeqadious: maybe you could add your repo to wiki page

thanks for the custom repo zeq!
been wrestling with elisa for a couple days, xbmc works well and it's damn sexy.
Does anyone have the youtube script running? I thought elisa had a cool way of doing that. I only saw it in video though, that piece of software is pretty cranky...
thanks again zeq!

Alpha 3 Code Name: Atlantis
I've compiled the latest Alpha 3 tagged XBMC for Linux today and I've made it a development version for testing. I don't know if Team XBMC wants to hear about bug reports from Arch, but at least we can provide the capabilities.
Just follow the guidelines: http://xbmc.org/wiki/index.php?title=HO … Bug_Report
xbmc 2.1a3
Zeq
PS: I haven't even launched this xbmc yet, so hopefully it works...

Hi Zeqadious,
First of all I would like to personally thank you for providing the xbmc PKGBUILDS and the repo to the community. I have been using them for quite a while now. :D:D:D
I have noticed an issue with my builds lately and I think it was when you recently updated the PKGBUILD to include the gperf and pmount dependencies. What is happening is that xbmc is struggling to play any mythtv mpeg2 recordings. Build 14565 using the older PKGBUILD while 14711 exhibited the problem after updating the PKGBUILD to the newer version. The PC is capable of playing these recordings fine and in fact it is barely using any CPU but the video and audio both stutter. I have to do some more comparisons here but I figured I would mention it as a potential issue. I would bring it up on the xbmc forums but I have seen the way people are treated when not using Ubuntu so I don't expect to get any help there. I also tried downloading the RC build from your repo and it had the same issues as well with Myth recordings. These are not NUV files there are regular mpg-ts files I am using. FWIW mkv x264 HiDefinition files play fine so something bizarre is going on here. I am currently trying a build from your latest PKGBUILD which was updated today. I will let you know the results, I am not sure if it is XBMC itself or something Arch related so was hoping someone else may chime in who also uses Myth.
Thanks,
Kevin

I don't use Myth myself, but hopefully someone else can confirm this issue for you. If you get a few who can confirm it you can probably post en-masse in the xbmc forums to get some sort of result.
I know its hard to post there as some of my own posts have gone completely ignored where others I'm told to go .... Anyway, we can always keep trying. I know they profess that XBMC should be easy to compile in any distro and that we only need people to find the build discrepencies and report them. Right now XBMC is in feature freeze so any problems we have in our Arch builds are VERY likely to be ignored for now. I have been focusing on the Atlantis build myself for the last few days and trying to find bugs. I added curl dependency only today since the AMT (Apple Movie Trailers) script needs it.
I suggest throwing Ubuntu on another partition/computer and testing with official packages to see if you get the same results. If it still is flaking out you can report it "officially" and probably get the problem solved in both Ubuntu and Arch that way
I have an Ubuntu install somewhere myself for just this type of thing ...
Zeq
PS: My 'buntu is way outdated as I haven't booted into it in like months ... Arch FTW!

Have anyone compiled it in 64bits?

I will see if I can rip out a short 5 min sample for you to try and put it up somewhere. Might be able to get to that tomorrow morning.
Thanks for the offer to test!

Just tried it, failed miserably.. Had to install gperf and enca among other things to make it start building, and remove 'linux' from the python24 compilation path in the PKGBUILD. It failed after some 5 minutes compiling, don't know where though.
Beware, the XBMC SVN is almost 700MB...

Do you have any suggestions where I can upload this? I have a 2min sample which exhibits the video and audio stutters. It is about 136mb though.

it fails here even on a 32bit machine. it runs fine for 1 hour, but then fails when compiling the visualisations stuff (which i think i don't need anyway).
i used the PKGBUILDs from the lnk above.

I managed to cut the file down a bit more so it was under 100 megs. Here is the link http://www.mediafire.com/?djjzdbtt2ux When played with XBMC I see stuttering around the part where it is saying Rated 14A and also during the first intro where it is flying through space. When played with mplayer I don't see these slowdowns. Please test it out and see if you see the same behaviour. If not maybe it is a problem on my system but I see the same behaviour on 2 seperate PC's here. BTW I was using Zeqdious "xbmc" build from his repo but I think "xbmc-svn" performs the same. Also if I build it myself using his PKGBUILDS the problem has been occuring for recent builds as well.
Thanks alot,
Kevin

I think I figured out my issue. The problem seems to go away if I turn off Vertical Sync in the Appearance -> Screen settings menu. I need to check how that affects my projector still but it looks great on my Monitor here. I thought I would need to have Vertical Sync on to prevent tearing but we shall see. Anyone else care to chime in?
Thanks again,
Kevin

It seems to play fine here on both XBMC and Mplayer... Not sure what the problem could be.

I get the same thing. It fails trying to compile the Goom visualization. I can run zeq's package just fine, but they're a week outdated and I experienced some weird issues with his versions.

XBMC doesn't save any changes. I have to add all of my video and music files everytime. XBMC wipes itself clean after i exit. I need some help to understand why this is happening.

Likely because the $HOME of the user you are using is not rw. try rm -rf $HOME/.xbmc and try again.
