Hey, I was just wondering if it is possible to close my account, if so how?
THanks in advance...

Are you serious?

Dead serious! Starts mumbling...
they come back, they all come back...
Honestly, why do you want to do this? If you're not interested in your account leave it lying around. It won't hurt anyone . Maybe if you really insist you can get the account deleted by an admin. Why you would want to do that is way beyond me.

It will never be deleted because that is an absolute pain in the arse - although you only have a few posts so it would be easier... The way we close accounts here is to ban people!

I've asked about this before too.
Why is account deletion such a pain? Why not use a forum board that doesn't complicate normally simple things?
If it's just to prevent people from deleting their own posts, why do you feel that it's justified to prevent them from doing that?
Is it a case of "once you post, we own your words"?
EDIT: For the record, I see very few good reasons to delete a forum account here, but for those that do, I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to.

If you don't want your forum account, just don't use it. Yeah, it's that easy, just don't log in anymore. And if you don't trust yourself not to login anymore, type some random shit into the change password box, so you can't log back in again.
The suggestion box only accepts patches.

So having a bunch of unused forum accounts is "keepin' it simple stupid" ?

Yes. It is. It's much simpler to let people just not use their account than go through the hassle of deleting it, possibly deleting some perfectly good content they contributed to the community in the process.

There are plugins for FluxBB/PunBB that will delete the account, and possibly the posts made by the account if you wish, but I agree, there isn't really much of a reason to delete your account, unless you're really paranoid about someone finding out you use archlinux or something

he has to type the same random shit twice.. which eliminates the random effect

Not really a problem since it's possible to use cut and paste. Might need a different program or a different webform to cut from.

You could delete their account and change all their posts to reflect some generic username without a post count. The only thing would be that if a new user chose an old username, it may briefly cause some confusion among forum members.

+1 unless the OP has a better reason than "I just don't want it anymore"
