I don't think it wil be on tv:P but i would really like to see it being used on something. Do with it what you want.
and maybe a little reference to me would be nice
Oh chimeric, thanx for doing the sound, I just have two suggestions. The rattling sound when it's spinning, while it's a nice it just gives the logo a bit of a broken, clunky feel.
Also the last sound, which i'd love to use on one of my other logo's, is too light i think. It would be more of a deep boom, to give the feeling of stability.
It's great that you liked it finferflu, and thanks for the ccmixter link. i think i'm gonna be there a couple of times more:)

NICE!
(I used to do a little stop motion animation myself)
I would slow down that transition at 2.5 seconds (when the A jumps back). It happens a hair too fast, I don't quite recognize the transition until its jumped. So it looks like a few frames of the transition were cut.
Excellent job IMHO.

This is a fine candidate for the artwork section. I like it!

The first time I saw it, I quickly imagined this video to be shown during boot process instead of splashy or something like that.... It plays just 1 time and stands still.... It'd be very cool though

I tried putting this in my ~/.xinitrc:
mplayer ~/dl/archanimatedmoviewithsound.mov
. ~/.fehbg
xbindkeys
exec xmonad
but mplayer stalled and didn't play anything.

I used
mplayer -vo x11 -fs OperaDownloads/archanimatedsound.mkv
and that worked
not sure why changing video output to x11 works, but it also improves playback on other video files for me also added -fs for full screen

Hmm that didn't work for me. I have come up with this kludge:
mplayer ~/dl/archanimatedmoviewithsound.mov &
sleep 4.3s
Benzo: I like how your audio does not start with a BANG!, but it almost ends with one.

Hey Benzo, thnx.
I just layered your sound over chimeric's sound and it was pretty cool
now i'm just looking for the ideal finishing sound, when the logo lands. Benzo's was a good start, i need a deep, low boom, but not to loud.
BTW: great to see people trying to use it as a boot screen, would be nice wouldn't it:) Isn't there any bootscreen software that can play a series of images or something?

"Archlinux - It's what you make it"
Perfect for commercial distribution of Arch Linux CDs.
I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

Amazing work, I love it! I'd watch TV if it had ads like that!
If only one could put animations on a t-shirt... LCD clothing, the next big thing?

Awesome!
Another way to grab is:
wget http://mirror.video2.blip.tv/Rio6000-ArchlinuxAnimationWithSound207.mov
For anyone that cares, gecko-mediaplugin for gnome-mplayer is far superior to mplayer-plugin. The only catch is that it depends on gnome-mplayer which may be too simple for some people. The good news is that it's developing future mplayer-plugins.

Nice work.

Take the & off of the end of your mplayer line.
archlinux - please read this and this — twice — then ask questions.
