Know what? I read Archux top to bottom and didn't think to click the video link. Thanks for posting it.

I'm off to post them in some other places, still trying to get some of my Debian/Ubuntu using friends to convert roll

I may just have to put on a suit and go knocking on their door on Sunday morning big_smile

Re: 2008.06 Release

I'm having a problem trying to install Arch with the latest install cd (2008.06). I installed it before in the same machine with a previous install cd. This is estrange. Does the new cd supports less hardware? I've tried both Arch Live boot and Arch legacy boot.

The problem occurs when I try to select the packages. It gives me an error that says something about "at least seven tokens" (or something like that, I don't remember exactly). It seems that I can't access internet but my internet connection is working for sure (I'm using it now, with another Arch on the same machine).

Any help will be welcomed.

Thanks

Re: 2008.06 Release

There's a fair bit of info around about that... search 'tokens' I'd say. You WILL get it going... Start again... something to do with drive setup of something... reformat etc. via the standard install way from off the cd.
had a lot of that tokens thing myself. sorry I can't be more help...

http://downloads.archlinux.de/iso/2008.10-archboot/

it's archboot based and not a archiso, but it uses already 2.6.27 kernel, im waiting for the place to share them on official server.

Re: 2008.06 Release

Mmh...can't test right now, sorry.

But as an interested by-stander: do you guys now develop both archiso and archboot?
archiso is so intriguengly simple....

No offense meant here!

Re: 2008.06 Release

Archiso is written by Simo, Aaron and Dan, Archboot is developed by me.
I just do what makes fun to me and i like creating intallable initramfs images in a fast and easy way.

main difference:
initramfs install system (archboot) vs. unionfs livecd install system (archiso)

Also i changed to provide images which include both 686 and x86_64 in one image.
It is a bit different how it works and offers other features, which are not included in archiso.
Both have pros and cons, so everyone can decide which is better for the purpose you need.

I just want to share them with others.

Re: 2008.06 Release

I'm remaking a better version of archiso. Its going to be modular too. Without the need to list them like in archiso addons folder. big_smile

I hope this helps.

I'm working on a live cds based on Archlinux. http://godane.wordpress.com/

Re: 2008.06 Release

Hey guys,

you are really cool smile I really appreciate your work!

Something I have done with archiso was to create my own live CD with my own kernel (real-time kernel at that time, to demonstrate something). This took some modifications to the archiso scripts - and as I am not a very good scripter, I had to hardcode a few things, which I am sure was the reason why Simo & Co. didn't include it.

Will this be easy to do with your guyses scripts? This would be a killer feature for me...

Greetings,
Blind
