There was a story on slashdot today about a new SYN attack. Details can be found at:

Does it sound like we have anything to worry about? Some comments in the article (http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/10/01/0127245) mention the following temporary "fix":
echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_syncookies
However, there are many responses that say that will not help.
Has anyone heard anything about this?
