wicd - "network requires encryption" wpa_supplicant is installed

if i connect using

wpa_supplcant -Dwext -iwlan0 -c /etc/woa_supplicant

then use

dhcpcd wlan0

i can connect to my network and access the internet perfectly fine. When i installed wicd and booted up my system after adding it to rc.conf, wicd is able to see the networks, but it isnt able to connect because they require encryption.

ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
ctrl_interface_group=users
eapol_version=1
ap_scan=1
fast_reauth=1

network={
        ssid="T2"
        psk=lala
}

Use the advanced connection settings in wicd to type in the password.
