no internet

hi guys. i have a problem with my internet connection. well i just can't connect. i was downloading with rtorrent when i saw that the download speed was 0.0. i rebooted as a root with the shutdown -r now command and when i logged back in there was no internet. the machine is connected through ethrnet with a router. from the same router another machine with windows is connected through usb. the windows machine can be connected though. any ideas?

can you ping out?
go into the terminal and input 'ping -c 5 www.google.com' and post the output.
also try pinging the router, 'ping -c 5 192.168.0.1' or whatever your routers default ip is.
this should help us narrow down where the problem is.

also, double check and make sure you have your rc.conf configured correctly.

Did your internet ever connect?  what did you do that might have affected this?
or is this one of those "I don't know what happened, it just stopped"
problems?

basically, I need more info to help you troubleshoot.
