Any update on the above topic? I just "upgraded" to 2.6.27.4-1 and now I have no sound
alsamixer is definately unmuted - have checked it a dozen times.
Audio card is:

For what it's worth, I had issues with my ensoniq based card as well. I fixed mine by enabling pcspkr in the modules array. I had to disable it in the previous kernel update. Have no idea why the pcspkr module was to blame but all's well now.

Similar thing has happened on my (brand new) laptop... Installed Arch last weekend, got the sound working and then rebooted and now there's no sound
Something in 2.6.27 seems to be stuffing my audio after I reboot. Obviously it's not everyone, but it's both my computers so I'm guessing I'm configuring something wrong somewhere.
Anyone got any bright ideas on how to identify my stuff up(s)?

OMG! I'm such a freakin' idiot.
This is my work computer so I listen through headphones. Of course that means I didn't think about the fact that the sound card still has a front, rear and center + sub output. Guess which one was still muted?
