How to stream video files?

If I am at my office on my laptop and I wanted to play a video (like a 350mb tv episode or something for example) file that's on my desktop at home, how would I set it up to stream?? What do I have to setup/configure on my desktop at home? (I think VLC is suitable for loading the video from my laptop, but I am just checking what needs to be done on the "server" side).

Thanks very much!

Hey that's a good idea actually, I will remember that one, however my office computers have Windows (my laptop in this case Vista).

Re: How to stream video files?

You could also do so with VLC, if I recall.
