So I can't write to my external ntfs anymore through kde. Even through Windows XP it's been giving me "Cannot Access" errors. I did a "chown -R gary /media/Arda-2", but that still didn't work

Dead filesystem? Bad drive? Seems odd that the drive isn't seen in Windows either; makes me doubt that it's something easily fixed.

Well, I could copy stuff into it from Windows yesterday afternoon. And gparted scan says it's fine. So it's probably some user permission thing

Run chkdsk on it from windows and see what it says... If it comes up with any errors, re-run it, could be any number of things causing issues.

I can. Oddly, it fixed itself. However, the owner is root, but I can still create files and such using a non-root user. I am sharing it with Windows and such, so will that affect my access in the future?
