Boot problem after upgrade

Hi,

I recently did an complete update of the system, rebooted, and now my computer won't boot.  I suspected it was a problem with the new kernel (2.6.27.7) and then tried to reinstall an older version.

Following the kernel panic wiki page (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Kernel_Panics), I loaded the liveCD and attempted to mount any of my disks using

mount /dev/sda3 /mnt/

I get

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda3,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

If I run dmesg | tail I get

JFS: nTxBlock = 8192, nTxLock = 65536

Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

J

Re: Boot problem after upgrade

Thank you both for your replies.  I first checked all disks using fsck and they were fine.  I successfully mounted my sda3 drive and reinstalled previous kernel but am still having trouble booting up.

I've looked into the dmesg and can find no message as to why it's not booting up.  Basically it gets to the message regarding usbs (configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice) and stops doing anything.

I've done a df -hi to find if the boot disk is full and it's running at 1% full.

Any ideas of how I can find my problem?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Boot problem after upgrade

Hi SKazas, no sorry my problem doesn't look like yours - good luck in finding a fix!

I just ended up reinstalling my system - it needed a good cleanout anyway.

Thanks
