Hi,
This is for all the Aussie and Kiwi users of Arch Linux. I have been in discussions with iinet to mirror Arch Linux. It would be on their FTP site as part of the 'Freezone' program - meaning Arch downloads will be quota free or unmetered. Note: iinet supports rsync too.
The bottom line is, iinet wants more customers (and I guess potential customers) to voice their support for Arch before they will mirror it. So if this appeals to you, please make your opinion count. Thanks.
Update:
Final Report: All updated and rsync working. Enjoy iinet quota-free Arch.
PS - The iinet mirror is updated multiple times per day.

I've been using Internode because it is unmetered for me. I also get downloads between 1400-1900 kb/s

I'd love to use internode but unfortunately they cannot supply adsl2+ in my area.

I'm not an iinet customer, so there's not much I can do.
Planetmirror seem to mirror every random small/large distro except us, so it'd be worth requesting a mirror there:

They had a mirror years ago but they stopped updating.

I moved from iiNet to Internode 6 months ago - 'node are much more Linux friendly. Internode ftw

I've been an iinet customer for years so I've sent a request to iinet.
It was great running debian or ubuntu as all updates were unmetered, it would be great to have the same for archlinux too.

Thanks to everyone for all the replies. It's not too late for anyone else to express your opinion, let's hope it will be enough to convince iinet that they are making the correct decision.

Thanks for your effort. With the recent iinet ftp server problems I switched to using the 3fl server for my Dad's ubuntu updates. I'll be interested to see which one maintains consistency of updates. Cheers.

I'm moving to Adam Internet next week. Their two unmetered mirrors are iinet and pacific so if iinet don't get their sh*t together at least I still have pacific

Update: I received a reply and there was a problem at their end. The update process will continue late tonight - (WST +8)

Update:
So far only the ISO and Community directories are mirrored.
They are having some problems (not at Arch's end), hopefully the mirroring will continue. Stay tuned...

Cool, thanks to J and iinet (I don't mind'em; whirlpool can be a funny old place).

This is excellent... upgrading Arch was becoming a considerable burden on my download quota. Now I'm free to convert my desktop to Arch when I have the spare time.

Hmmm. Is anyone else having trouble with the iinet mirror? It's been timing out on me for a while now.

I've been getting timeouts alot too, I guess iiFTP is at capacity?
I'm filing a mirror request on 3FL, that's within the iiNet freezone too.

Nice work. I'm in Perth so I guess this will mean that it will be free bandwidth for me using WAIX! Woot!
New user, loving Arch after starting on Ubuntu and then Fedora (for the last 4 years combined). I love the whole approach of Arch and its KISS principals.

I'm only new here myself, Arch is a great distro hey
There are also mirrors on Internode and Pacific.net.au. I get amazing speeds from aarnet here in Brisbane, but that's Pipe not WAIX, and it's not in the Freezone.

@Super Jamie: how do you tap into PipeNetworks @ Brisbane? (I use TPG down on the GC)

I work for a business-only service provider Still, it's very fast on my home iiNet connection too.
