dump your "ifconfig eth0" output here - if ifconfig displays Tx 0 and Rx 0 then your driver doesn't support traffic information

thx phrakture for trying to help!
so i guess the driver is fine.. I just did a

vnstat -u

as root, since that's sorta what the vnstat file in /etc/cron.d/ does.. and now I have data..
question: could it be that /etc/cron.d/ is working right ?
I did a

tail -f /var/log/messages

and there's no vnstat running ( i remember that the vnstat update call came up in /var/log/messages in my old distri )
so what can I do?  I need to fix that cron issue, my guess there's my problem

Re: vnstat problem

0,5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55 * * * * vnstat -u

that's what i added to my root crontab.. dunno why it won't work the normal way but this way it's updated every 5minutes..

edit:

*/5 * * * * vnstat -u

thx to b0uncer!
it still runs every 5minutes but looks so much cooler wink

Re: vnstat problem

Thx Mith, looks like vnstat doesn't properly install the cron job. Easy as

crontab -e

and putting there your stuff.

Again, thanks!
