Realtek No Link / WOL issue

Hi archers big_smile
Recently I bought new computer and i wanted to install Arch on it, but i ran into a problem i can't solve. It's that issue with Realtek card s with new drivers, i tried to do what was on wiki but i didn't help.Firts i tried to enable WOL in Win driver but i don't have any option "wake-on-lan after shutdown" there, but something close to it "Shutdown Wake-On-Lan" originaly it was set to "Enable" so i disabled it, but there was no change, network in Arch still don't work. Then i tried to find some old Realtek drivers, but no luck. Ande the third possibility writen, to use newer drivers, so i just don't know how to do it tongue. So if anyone could point me in better direction i would be glad.

Also i have one off topic question, what driver i should use for NVIDIA GTX260+ 216Shader 896MB.

Thank for help in advance.

Re: Realtek No Link / WOL issue

First Arch needs to detect and load the correct module for your card. Check if more than one module works for your card, that might be the problem.
Concerning the problem of changing the setting on windows and so on, if that is the problem I have seen that going to the bios and selecting boot from lan could also solve the problem as the bios needs to setup everything so it can have network.
The driver for your card ..... most probably the binary driver from nvidia I guess.

Re: Realtek No Link / WOL issue

I tried that thing with bios, but it says something like "Media test failure" and no change sad. The thing about the modules, i gues that i should se what is in MODULES( r8169, slhc, many times snd*something, soundcore) section in rc.config, but wiki says "8139too" module, so i will trie to replace that r8169 with it, cos i gues that's the module it is using now. But thanks for help anyway

EDIT: I tried everythink that get on my mind, but still no change, strange is that when i tried Chakra LiveCD that is basicaly archlinux with kdemod packages, it automaticaly detected my network, and everythink worked fine, but when i try to install arch from it, it just pop out error message at the end of installation so, i'm screwed.:(

Re: Realtek No Link / WOL issue

You could try to set the connection speed of the ethernet controller to 10Mb with:

mii-tool -F 10baseT-FD eth0

At least that helped me getting the connection to my router (and internet) to work - my network-card uses the module 8169.
By the way, first I tried the WOL-thing too, but enabling or disabling didn't change anything.

For seeing what modules are loaded, use lsmod.

Re: Realtek No Link / WOL issue

Tried what otti said, sadly no change. It seems i will have to use Fedora, since it is the only system that worked on my computer out of the box. If it's good for something here is what lsmod shows :
