hi all,
I updated KDE this morning to KDE 4.2 RC1, first of all, I had to yaourt -Suf to update due to errors without the force option. I then rebooted but all I get is the background image, plasma just doesn't show up. I can't get a menu from a right click neither... I tried deleting my .kde and .kde4 folders in my /home, but that doesn't change anything. I am now stock using TWM
Does anybody have a solution or the same problem?

Did you try Alt&F2 > plasma?
I updated too, works quite well, except that when i try to switch desktops by clicking on the pager-plasmoid, plasma crashes.
It's a bug planet!

yeap, in fact alt F2 is the only thing working, actually it shows me the "execute command" program, but it won't launch anything, when I type palsma then enter, nothing happens...

Sometimes reinstalling helps, so maybe
pacman -S kde
would do the trick.

Never, ever use pacman/yaourt -Suf. That is the beginning of many problems.

then what should I have done?
I'm trying pacman -S kde....

I had to move $HOME/.kde* somewhere to get it to work. Eventually, I just rsync'ed and re-installed. Now, everything works perfectly.

To deal with conflicts:
1) make sure it is not a conflict with another package - if it is, file a bug report
2) either remove the conflicting files manually or use -Sf for individual packages.
Using -Sfu is dangerous.
