How to you get the sound working? Or it might just be the volume, so how to you change the volume?

You can use xfce4-mixer.

You can use xfce4-mixer.
I tried to launch it form terminal and saw that I had missing dependency. You must have gstreamer plugins installed to make the mixer work, how about making it as a dependency for xfce4-mixer?
It is solved now, I have sound!

I added gstream0.10-base as a dependency and a short note about the plugins. Thanks!

xfce 4.6 is late? They suposed to release 4.6 on january 10.

Yup, development stalled a little as far as I can tell. A new beta is being tagged right now, so RC1 shouldn't be too far away. But I'm no dev, so don't trust me.

Regarding the menu editor -- it's deprecated, and the menu editor gives you a messgage saying so when it runs. This link has instructions for menu editing in 4.6:

Oh, thanks. Didn't notice that. I disabled it again and put the link in the first post.

This is a considerably less useful method, though. Especially if you have a fairly large amount of stuff installed, it's kind of crap to not be able to change the ORDER of things in the menu, add separators, remove a larger number of entries without editing countless .desktop files, etc.. I'm REALLY hoping they manage to put out another menu editor, or I'll likely be heading back to a *box.

Thanks for your SVN builds. I use them on my Acer One 110. Btw, is xfce keyboard layout switcher alive? If it is, can you add a package?
Offline
Yes, it is. xfce4-xkb-plugin-svn is now in the repo and should be uploaded in a few minutes.

BUGS:
1.xfce4-session: please don't copy a xfce4.desktop from /usr/share/xsessions/ to /etc/X11/sessions/, it's the old style...
2.xfce4-mixer: it doesn't depend on alsa-libs. and alsa-libs even isn't a make depends
3.xfce4-mixer: Please edit the xfce4-mixer.desktop , change Categories from "Audio;Mixer;" to "Settings;DesktopSettings;". or the application will be in Other categories in the menu.

1) xfce4.desktop is part of xfce-utils-svn. It doesn't get installed to /usr/... at all. I can change that, but the current stable version of xfce-utils doesn't do it either. Nor does fluxbox. Are you sure about it? Does it matter?
2) xfce4-mixer-plugin-svn does depend on alsa-lib.
3) This is not my fault. Please contact the developers to change that.
Thanks for the feedback, though!

Thanks, so fast reply...
1.It will show twice in GDM... i have compiled it before, and if you don't do it by yourself , the xfce4.desktop file won't show in /etc/X11/sessions/ .. just litter problem
2.i can't find such package, i have tried to compile xfce4-devel myself, and new Xfce4 and gnome will use gstreamer to manager sound, so it really don't need alsa-libs.
3.yes, but you can change it as a packager..

would you mind add a patch to thunar?
patch : http://bugzilla.xfce.org/attachment.cgi?id=1783

big toolbar in Gnome.

1) Sorry, I missed an update there. Fixed that.
2) Arg, sorry, meant xfce4-mixer-svn. I looked into it and you were right. I misunderstood you first and thought I should add alsa-lib.
3) Normally I'd say I want to keep the repo vanilla, but as RC1 is coming out soon and this repo's life is almost over, I added a patch. If someone wants it vanilla, I'll make it optional.
Uploading any moment.
Edit: Sure, patch added.

Nice! thanks very much.
and i don't think the SVN version will over, because xfce4.6 won't stop at 4.6.0.

Bug:
xfce4-settings-svn: seems need libxklavier
xfce4-settings-helper: error while loading shared libraries: libxklavier.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
xfce-utils: no need to install an extra xfce.desktop to /usr/share/xsession, and it's a wrong place. it will automaticly build a .desktop file and install it to /usr/share/xsessions...

1) Is fixed. kbd-plugin brought in libklavier and it is now linked against other packages, it seems.
2) When I tested it, it didn't do that. Must have overlooked something (and included a stupid typo). I hope it's fixed now.
Also, rc1 is getting tagged. The final is upon us! ^^

Hey, don't close your repo after release! Anyway, who use this stable versions at all?
Offline
Full ack, your packages are amazingly stable and bugs are fixed within hours, if not minutes. I would love to continue using your repo!
Offline
That might be the case, but I don't even use Xfce anymore. Terminal is the only package out of my repo I actually run. It wouldn't get the proper attention it needs. Also, thank the devs for the stability, not me.
So, no, I'll definitely stop building once the next final is out, which should be in around 2 weeks. If you want to keep on using this repo, you can build it yourself. This would give you about the same level of quality control and it takes less than half an hour.

sorry to hear that. you repo is really very useful and easy for us to using xfce4.6. and at least save power enerage, good for environment
