Hope someone can help...
My system is fully up to date.
I use NetworkManager to handle my wireless and wired connections. It works perfectly. But resolv.conf keeps getting overwritten, changing my nameservers from OpenDNS to 192.168.1.1. I have to change it manually at each boot.
I have tried adding my chosen nameservers to resolv.conf.head and/or resolv.conf.tail, but resolv.conf isn't getting overwritten with these files at boot (instead a message saying NetworkManager edited resolv.conf).
I have tried enabling and blacklisting dhcdbd in rc.conf to no avail.
The dhcddb parameters are also set to "-C resolv.conf", but since nm runs dhcddb itself, it doesn't seem to take any notice.
Any ideas?

Make your changes in /etc/resolv.conf.head. /etc/resolv.conf will continue to be overwritten but your nameservers in .head will be used first and foremost.

I have tried that. resolv.conf.head and resolv.conf.tail files get ignored somehow...

I have the same problem. I have tried the instructions on the OpenDNS wiki page, but the nameserver address in /etc/resolv.conf still gets overwritten. I too use NetworkManager. Any ideas?

There is a switch you can set in your dhcpcd config so that resolv.conf is not over written, i believe it's "-C resolv.conf" but NetworkManager may not be using dhcpcd.

Jepp. The solution in post #13 works just fine. Thanks again!

It's not my thread--it's chrispoole's. I think we have to wait and see if it worked for him.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I decided to simply try wicd again, and have stuck with that. It has a simple GUI for setting DNS entries, and works just as well as nm.
I also find the rc.local trick a bit hackish -- surely this is an issue with nm or something?
rson451: I had tried this too. Same issue.
