Is it advisable to go to KDEMod 4.2 in testing before it is moved to the official KDEMod Repos?

For every problem, there is a solution that is:
Clean
Simple and most of all...wrong!

I think this generally applies to the question of advisability of using anything in a "testing" repo:
If you want to help the devs find bugs and speed up its inclusion in the stable repo and it isn't mission-critical, then yes.
If instability can pose a serious problem for you, then no.

Well...it is only 2 days before KDE 4.2 officially comes out...so I think waiting would be the best thing.

If there are only a few days left, then I would wait. I would probably even wait a bit longer to see what issues others have first.

kdemod is in [testing]?
I thought kdemod had its own repositories?

kdemod has it's own testing repository. I've been running it for a couple weeks without any issues, but like you said if it's due to move to stable in a few days you might as well wait for the official release.

I installed today kdemod using [kdemod-testing] repo over my XFCE4...My keyboard is not working upon staring kdm only mouse does...Downgraded hal maybe it would help but still the same sit...Now, I can no longer type when Slim starts as well...I'm on a total mess...:(
Reinstalling kdemod now hope it helps...:|
Any workarounds?
Btw: I had enabled [testing], is this the cause of my prob?:/

So why didn't he ask in kdemod's forum?
By the way, what's the difference between kdemod 4.2 and kde 4.2 in official [testing] repo?

kdemod is a tweaked version and modular while kde on the [testing] repos is vanilla AFAIK

The KDEmod KDE 4 packages are vanilla too, apart from only one backport applied to them.
Beside of that, you have
- split packages
- packages with debugging symbols
- some small extra bugfixes that are not in the packages in [extra], like an increased X timeout for KDM (which solves problems like this one)
Oh, and 4.2 is running fine and you dont need to enable [testing] for it - we have included all necessary dependencies in our repos...
want a modular and tweaked KDE for arch? try kdemod

Thanks...I had [testing] enabled for networkmanager 0.7...:)

I'm using kdemod 4.2 now, upgraded today. Generally it's awesome, but desktop effects are TERRIBLY slow. I've had to turn them off, desktop was just unusable with them. Old 4.1 was ok. Graphic card is gma945
