I have a LOT of Chinese music on my computer and since I don't use a native Chinese locale, I can't see the normal Chinese id3 tags (it's just ASCII gibberish). This happens even in Windows if you don't use a Chinese version. Anyway, I have to manually edit each song and add in the Chinese myself which takes a long long time. I did all this before but now that I've installed Arch (from Ubuntu) and have installed Banshee, I have noticed that Banshee did not edit my music collection. All the files are exactly as they were before. I'm not sure how this could happen unless Banshee stores the data in its own database. I tested Banshee on my Arch box and whereas the song was changed in Banshee, the file's id3 tag was not actually changed. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way to let Banshee handle this? I'd rather not go through another app just to tag my files.
Thanks!

Edit -> Preferences -> Write metadata to files (check?)

Yeah I know about that one and it's checked. It doesn't work.

I had encountered the same problem with Rhythmbox as well. So I just started using EasyTag for editing ID3 tags. Check it out.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Man I'm feeling slow... I just edited my songs with EasyTag and they're edited now but it's not showing up in Banshee! Does Banshee store its own DB?
