I just installed Arch on a Dell Inspiron 8200.I have installed lxde along with gdm..I can enter gdm from prompt and it brings up login screen..but I can't use my keyboard or mouse.I cant move mouse or type in anything.Tab,arrow keys, nothing works...I ran xorgconfig and have tried different mouse and keyboard choices but none work.Im going to reinstall Debian,,but ill just resize partition and keep arch..Hopefully I can work out problem with keyboard..Not sure if some sort of module needs to be loaded for laptop keyboards and mouse to work?

This is a known issue with hotplugging. There are 2 choices you have
1) Install xf86-input-evdev and hal and dbus (if you haven't already)
2) Disable hotpluggin completely.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !
