RAH, you'll need to use yaourt or download the package build from AUR for the jre_beta. That's what I did.

If I download the package build how do I install it with pacman?  Additionally I was told a stable final version has been released and the beta isn't necessary?

The package han't been updated yet in the extra repo, if you want it you have to use AUR or similiar

Re: [SOLVED] 64bit Java

OK, I managed to get it installed with Yaourt (had to remove jre first), how do I install the plugin for FireFox now?  Copy a certain file over?

Re: [SOLVED] 64bit Java

It should already have the plugin installed, close and reopen Firefox and check in the about:plugins; you should see libnpjp2.so listed, that's the java plugin.

Re: [SOLVED] 64bit Java

Anyone have any information on when jre 1.6.12 will hit [extra]? It's been a while since it was released roll
