With regards to this thread:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=64278
How does one install the latest 64bit Java release which has FireFox x64 plugin support? Preferably through pacman.
Thanks for your help.

RAH, you'll need to use yaourt or download the package build from AUR for the jre_beta. That's what I did.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

If I download the package build how do I install it with pacman? Additionally I was told a stable final version has been released and the beta isn't necessary?

The package han't been updated yet in the extra repo, if you want it you have to use AUR or similiar

I have Yaourt installed but can't remember how to use it.

yaourt --help
or better yet, go to the AUR page and download the tarball.

OK, I managed to get it installed with Yaourt (had to remove jre first), how do I install the plugin for FireFox now? Copy a certain file over?

It should already have the plugin installed, close and reopen Firefox and check in the about:plugins; you should see libnpjp2.so listed, that's the java plugin.

Anyone have any information on when jre 1.6.12 will hit [extra]? It's been a while since it was released
