I followed this wiki link to install dmenu, and I also created the sh file under .config/dmenu. This could probably replace gmrun for me.
Everything works great but the dmenu comes up at the top of the screen and hides my 1 line conky. Is there any way I can configure dmenu so that it shows up in the center of the screen, with respect to and X and Y axes both?
Also, can someone point me to some documentation for it? I found its website on sckless.org, but it too doesn't have much in documentation.

Why isn't it what you're looking for?
Something like echo test | dmenu -y 30 does what you want, right?

Well, for 1, I like the horizontal aspect. The only thing is that I want it from the top of the screen to the center of the screen. I had used dmenu in another distro before--- I want to say ubuntu 7.04, but it could also have been debian that I used it in -- and I distinctly remember that dmenu showed up nicely in the center of the screen.
EDIT: To be honest, I haven't tried out everything mentioned on that link you gave me -- that will have to wait until I get back home from work.
