Well, I just update my arch from months without update, now the "greeter application appeals to be crashing" when gnome is trying to start (most likely gdm).
I upgrade the kernel and a lot of things.
Any idea of why the "greeter application is crashing"?
Thanks in advance...

1) Please do not bump thread more than once in 24 hours.
2) Giving more details like the errors that occur would be helpful in diagnosing the problem correctly rather than an obfuscating statement like "something is crashing"
3) Have you read about HAL in the wiki and gone thru the solutions offered there?
4) As an aside, it is always better to update the system every now and again. I am not advocating an update everyday or anything but once every week should be good. That way, if there are problems in the upgrade, they are relatively confined and also other users facing the same issues have posted solutions which you can look up on the forums.

There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

this sounds like another "i updated to xorg-server 1.5 and now i have no X" thread. start with /var/log/Xorg.0.log and go ask the google.
i also second Inxsible on points 1 and 4.

Arrogance!.
Don't care if you guys are leet prah's ... Really.
I just wanted to know if there was a known issue on the "gnome greeter application" that was crashing.
Thanks for your support and time writing those 4 points.

i'm glad you don't care; because we don't really care that you're offended.
Inxsible's points 1 and 2 deal with forum etiquette, not arrogance. Inxsible's point 4 deals with best practices regarding using a bleeding edge rolling release distro like Arch; practices that i tend to agree with. Inxsible's point 3 and my answer are quite similar if you updated xorg and are now having issues with X there are numurous threads out there which no one really wants to reproduce here for you.
and as far as
if there was a known issue on the "gnome greeter application" that was crashing
that sounds like a question for google.
welcome to the forums.
