I've been distro hopping for awhile now. When I heard about Ubuntu I thought my distro search would end but I guess I was wrong. After installing it, I felt like there was a lot of bloat I couldn't control and most importantly the GUI was a major distraction apart from a few other major issues. I didn't bother with a few other distros, primarily becasue, they had bloat in some form or the other and Im sure you know which ones I am talking about. The ones where I have to compile everything from scratch is a total no go. And thats where Arch Linux comes in.
"Prince among distros". : )
In any case, through this forum and through this post I want to sincerely thank those who are maintaining this beautiful distribtion that I have come to love so much - Arch Linux. All you guys out there who have made Arch Linux what it is today and constantly maintaining and updating it, have no clue how much of a difference you folks are making to me and many other people like me. So yea, My appreciations and thanks go out to all the developers, maintainers, the AUR community, the folks keeping track of and maintaining the packages in pacman and most importantly the people who use it..thank you very very much for this wonderful distrubtion. The more in depth I learn about arch linux, the more I realize how poetic, pristine and subtley wonderfully constructed it is. I know, they are not words people wud use for something as mundane as an operating system but still I am over joyed. lol.
The way I see it, arch linux is a pretty solid distribution and can only go from strength to strength and I sincerely hope that the steam never runs out for those who are actively involved in it. I hope to give back to the community soon. I was tempted to say "I hope to give back to the community someday". But then I thought why someday? why not today?. lol. So you all should be seeing me in active involvement soon ![]()

Sry If this post is in the wrong section. I didn't know which section to post in, cos my post was not conforming to any section per se. I was looking for a section called "Arch Lovers" or something similar but eventually resorted to posting in the section with the largest number of users. I hope it ok.

I'll suggest rtorrent (if you want console-based) or transmission-gtk (if you want GUI) for this slot.

Welcome to Arch.
If you have questions -- be sure to use the wiki first, then use the search function and if still unanswered, please post. Hope you have a wonderful experience with Arch...just like I am.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Is there any other alternative apart from rtorrent? im looking for console based torrent clients.

I like transmission, which is seperated into the cli package and the the gtk-based gui package. The cli verison is pretty basic but it gets the job done.

aria2 is console based and it can do a la torrents as well. yay!!
