It seems that people who have used the latest 2009.02 isos have their MODULES array completely empty, because udev now takes care of loading the modules. My system is up to date as of right now, but it is still using the old rc.conf which has all the modules listed. Also I checked the ls /etc/rc.* and I didn't find any rc.conf.pacnew or any such file. Does that mean that my system is not making use of udev currently?
Or can I remove the modules from the rc.conf MODULES array and expect the system to still work?

Just for sh*** and giggles I commented out my MODULES line in /etc/rc.conf and added an empty one to see what would happen and most things are picked up by udev, I guess. Some things had to be added back like disabling pcspkr and snd_pcsp and I had to add some modules for cpufreq to work with my AMD cpu. So I guess it's a partial yes that things will work fine with an empty MODULES line, depending on what you need of course.

thanks. but I guess you can never really be sure what modules you need. I for 1 had to disable iTCO_wdt to be able to boot into the machine. I have gotten 3 kernel upgrades after that, the first one still didnt work when I removed the iTCO_wdt. I haven't checked for the other 2. I will do that later tonight and find out.
