webcam issues

I have a Creative webcam Model  No. VF0230. The Cd that came with it says, Creative Live Cam Video IM Pro (which is what is listed under linux-uvc) - but my device id is different.

I read the wiki and the problem is that mine could be either a linux-uvc webcam or a webcam using ov51 - well because similar numbers like 0330 and 0420 models are listed in that one. I tried out ov51 and it didn't seem to work.

Here's my dmesg immediately after attaching the webcam

I tried loading the uvcvideo module in my xorg.conf, but Skype doesn't seem to find any webcams.
I am stumped...which other module should  I try?

Think you may be going about it the wrong way. Load the module with

sudo modprobe uvcvideo

So I am assuming all went well and that is the appropriate module for my webcam. However still no devices found in Skype. Maybe it is skype that needs some tweaking for it to recognize webcams. sad
