Hi all!
My first entry in this community. Love everything about archlinux so far (former ubuntu user).
I've encountered a problem with pypanel. I'd like to have it run in the background so I can fully maximize my windows.
I tried to configure my .pypanelrc with "ABOVE = 0" but no success.
Any ideas?

I started using pypanel, but I couldn't get it to hide behind maximized windows, so I switched to bmpanel.
bmpanel is incredibly excellent. Check it out, you might like it better than pypanel. It's better for me, anyway.

Right click below pypanel's clock hides the panel. You can then maximize your application.
My victim you are meant to be
No, you cannot hide nor flee
You know what I'm looking for

My advice : go without a panel.
I stopped using a panel when lxpanel started giving me issues...and now I am much more happier using Alt + Tab and Super + Tab to cycle thru windows. I only use a tray - stalonetray for skype and pidgin to rest in.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

+1, no panel.
I never know that I am so much happier when using NO panel.
Right Click to launch app,
Left Click is my "taskbar" (I use openbox)
Use conky only to display time.
clean and comfortable.
Man, using panel only slow you donw.

Currently I'm free of any panel as well. I used LXDE before and didn't have all the issues many of the other guys have. Strange thing, but LXDE ran perfectly for me. But I wanted to have a "real" openbox desktop, so I started it and well, no panel needed so far But it's a little bit strange in the beginning and it's not everybody's taste, that's for sure! But it's definitely worth a try
