Re: Using lcd TV as monitor

Does the LCD get recognized in /var/log/Xorg.0.log? Output of xrandr?

Re: Using lcd TV as monitor

Try Googling for your TV make/model and xorg... Someone else has probably already done it. Worked for me when I hooked up my 42" LCD smile

Re: Using lcd TV as monitor

I have got tv set up better now.... did not get much from google mostly hdmi just works

Not sure my graf card will transport sound to tv via hdmi

42" wow lol

need to sort panel fonts as they are way too smal [again I will search for that]

Maybe I need to lower res a bit but that defeats the object of having a large tv

Thanks for your help

Re: Using lcd TV as monitor

You should be able to adjust your panel fonts fairly easily.  You will probably want to enlarge fonts globally (menus etc).

Anyway, ever since I started plugging my laptop into my TV, I have had no need to transcode anime with subtitles to a divx file.

Re: Using lcd TV as monitor

Your resolution is now 1776 x 1000 change it to native 1920 x 1080 and quality should be perfect.

vga to hdmi anyone?

No HDMI on my laptop so I go from VGA to VGA input and have another cord running from my headphone socket to some sound input.  Never seen a vga -> hdmi input.

Re: Using lcd TV as monitor

Don't you have vga input in your tv? I though everyone does.
maybe component? than you can at least get vga->component adapter
