Strange DNS issue both wifi and eth0

Hey,

My thinkpad t61p has a lot of issues with dns, 9 out of 10 times, i cant load sites in firefox, cant ssh to remote and so on, alive connections is all ok, (pidgin, irc and alive ssh)

I have searched a lot on this forum and google, and tried some of the solutions explained

net.ipv4.tcp_timestamps = 0
net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling = 0

and did not help me,

Have to say, other distros @ home is all ok, and my laptop works all fine at work, so there isn't any issue on the hardware

dont know which info you guys need, but

#uname -a
Linux archy.hh 2.6.28-ARCH #! SMP PREEMPT Sun Mar 8 10:18:28 UTC 2009 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

hopefully you can help me, otherwise i have to install another distro (debian is tested on this computer, with no issues (on a spare disc) ), but dont want to, must be a solution.

Hope to hear something soon.

/Hasse

Re: Strange DNS issue both wifi and eth0

I've had problems with Arch before with a specific dsl router with similar symptoms. Perhaps you can try switching out your router with a friends to see if that solves it. I think there was a conflict with a kernel setting and the router(an older actiontec) not implementing something correctly. Unfortunately I have no idea where I researched last time.

Re: Strange DNS issue both wifi and eth0

try disabling ipv6, if you haven't already.
