[Mouse and Keyboard] xorg

Hello to everybody.

I did a new installation, I installed kde4 (thank to kdemod), nvidia, xorg and xf86-input-all

I tried to launch kdm, there is no problem, Xorg works fine and I get th e login screen. But at that time, bad luck, neither my mouse nor my keyboard are working. First I looked at the log. I can't show you the whole log but i took some notes of the errors.

(EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/mouse_drv.so : file to short
(EE) Unload mouse_drv.so

and same for kdb_drv.so

Consequently it unloads each input, and finally i had no mouse and no keyboard... Any idea ?

Re: [Mouse and Keyboard] xorg

Could you post your xorg.conf pls? and xorg.log also if possible
Last posts I've seen about no keyboard and mouse, were mainly because it was missing these lines on xorg.conf.

Section "ServerFlags"
   Option "AllowMouseOpenFail" "True"
   Option "AutoAddDevices" "False"
EndSection

Re: [Mouse and Keyboard] xorg

You pointed out the issue in the OP.

> (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/mouse_drv.so : file to short
> (EE) Unload mouse_drv.so

> and same for kdb_drv.so

...and for evdev_drv.so, as well.

No idea how things transpired, but that's obviously your problem.

You noted you're running a new install? Are you using an ext4 filesystem? Did you have a hard-reset crash shortly after installing? Any other evidence of HD or fs corruption? Something's clearly not right.

Have you tried reinstalling the  *_drv.so packages? That would be my next step.

Re: [Mouse and Keyboard] xorg

Yes I use an ext4 system, but I had no crash. But my problem is resolved, after some reinstalls. In fact, I reinstalled, but it didn't work, I clear my cache, and I downloaded again the package and it works with this xorg.conf. I concluded that it was a dowload corruption problem.

Thanks for your answers.
