Network disconnect under big file transfer

Hi friends,

My server at home has both wireless and wired connection however since I'm planning to transfer a big file I have my laptop connected directly to my server at home using ethernet cable to transfer over a big file ~ around 3 GB ~.  However during the transfer the ethernet connection between the two devices keeps disconnect, keep in mind these two devices are directly connected.  After the disconnect I would bring down the eth0 connection and bringing back up but that doesn't seem to help, it would timeout a few minutes into the transfer after I try.  Does anyone have an idea as to what might be happening?

Thanks,
Vincent

Re: Network disconnect under big file transfer

It seems like a bad wire or malfunctioning NICs.
Try changing the wire first, because it's most likely to be its fault.
