Re: i can't set up Router...'m totally lost

This is not an Arch problem, but here's a brief answer anyway.

Connect the modem to the router with an ethernet cable. I'm guessing the IP address you're seeing on the XP machine is 192.168.2.2, and that it's the address assigned to the XP machine. Try 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.2.254 in firefox. Set up rc.conf to use dhcp.

Oh and one more thing - read the manual that came with the router.

Re: i can't set up Router...'m totally lost

i get something today...
i conect the router as indicated by the router instructions
and i edit my /etc/rc.conf with

# Note: to use DHCP, set your interface to be "dhcp" (eth0="dhcp")
#
lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
eth0="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(lo eth0)
#
# Routes to start at boot-up (in this order)
# Declare each route then list in ROUTES
# - prefix an entry in ROUTES with a ! to disable it
#
gateway="default gw 192.168.x.x"
ROUTES=(!gateway)

192.168.x.x=the router IP
and now i can see the router, but i don't know how do i get internet for my PC via ethernet
from what i investigated, my ISP provider manage dynamic address
i cloned my Mac Address ( because is registered in my internet company, if not, you won't have internet...)
but still nothing...
what can it be?

Really, not an Arch problem. Can you not call your ISP help desk?

The problem is your inability to set up your router - it has nothing to do with what's happening on your Arch box. Anyway, use your brother's laptop when you call for support.
